Technical guidelines

  • Racing Post does not support or allow the streaming of content into adverts using the following protocols:
    • RSTP
    • RTMP
    • RTMPE
    • MMS
  • Adverts that require video or audio stream should use the HTTP progressive downloads.
  • No adverts to loop more than three times.
  • Ads must not attempt to mimic the following:
    • Racing Post branded content
    • Search functionality, buttons or boxes
    • Dialogue boxes (e.g. System alerts)
    • Operating system or application windows, functionality or Graphical User Interface
  • Any interactive GUI elements must provide the functionality they are representing.
  • Apart from Video advertising, all audio must be user initiated.
  • Creative deadlines:
    • Standard, video and mobile units: 3 working days
    • Expandable and Rich Media units: 5 working days

 

Expandable/Rich Media Ads

  • Expansion must be user initiated.
  • Expandable adverts (including Floor banner) must have must have a close button on top right and must automatically close on roll out.
  • All Expandable and Rich Media adverts are frequency capped to a maximum of four per UV per 24 hours.

 

Flash

  • All Flash creative must be published in Flash 10 (or below) with Actionscript 2 (or below).
  • Buttons in flash ads must implement the clickTag() method of handling click thrus and redirection.
  • Embedded URL redirects are not permitted.
  • A back up image (.gif or .jpg) must be supplied with all flash adverts.

 

3rd party Adservers

  • 3rd party ads must always return a valid image.
  • 3rd party ads must not be stopped or turned off without prior agreement with Racing Post.
  • Frequency capping, geo-targeting or any other targeting of creative by 3rd party adservers is not permitted.
  • Any changes made to creative already submitted must be agreed with Racing Post.

General technical and creative guidelines

  • All creative is subject to approval by Racing Post.
  • Cross site scripting is not permitted.
  • The use of Clipboard is not permitted.
  • The use of Flash Shared Objects is not permitted.
  • Accessing a user’s microphone or webcam is not permitted.
  • You may not link directly to PDFs.
